Did You Know A Chemical Peel Isn’t The Only Option For Reducing Wrinkles And Blemishes?
Did You Know A Chemical Peel Isn’t The Only Option For Reducing Wrinkles And Blemishes?

There’s simply no denying the fact that a chemical peel can quite literally transform a person’s appearance. In fact, the results can be quite unbelievable, especially when it comes to deep peels. Even serious lines and wrinkles can be virtually eliminated altogether, as can a range of other skin imperfections such as sun spots and age spots. With that said, acid peels still shouldn’t be a person’s first choice.
Many people argue that mild acid peels are without any serious risks, and that there are several different ones which can be purchased at any regular grocery store and then done in the comfort of one’s home. This may well be the case, but at the end of the day, chemicals are chemicals, and human skin was never designed to withstand chemicals. After all, these peels are actually causing the outermost layers of your skin to peel off, which in my books is hardly a natural phenomenon.
Another problem with mild peels is the fact that they don’t really produce any noticeable results. The might make one feel better about oneself, but it’s all in the mind really. These treatments only remove a minimal amount of skin, and as such, they make absolutely no difference to lines and wrinkles. Even more severe acid peels have proven to be totally ineffective at eliminating the signs of aging. If you want to get rid of fine lines and wrinkles, and you want to do so by way of a chemical peel, you’ll need to go for a deep peel.
If you make an appointment with a dermatologist, don’t be surprised if he or she refuses to grant you your wish, since they understand the seriousness of these procedures. Of course this doesn’t mean you won’t find someone willing to do the job, since it seems a skin care clinic has opened up on every street corner these days, and many of them are interested in nothing other than your money.
If you’re still feeling tempted, think of it like this……..you’ll be having an acid solution applied to your face which is so strong, it will leave you permanently disfigured if the clinician/doctor doesn’t neutralize it at precisely the right time. The acid used in a deep peel penetrates several layers of skin, and it does so within seconds. In fact, one of the biggest challenges has been to find a way of slowing the process down. The next major challenge was to find a way to reduce the pain. Up until fairly recently, patients had to be heavily sedated, or put out altogether. Nowadays however, certain other chemicals have been added to the acid solution which helps to numb the skin.
After the procedure, you’ll be unable to return to work for approximately two weeks, during which time your skin will feel seriously sore and tender. After the recovery period, you’ll notice your lines and wrinkles are virtually gone, but don’t forget, you’ll never be able to go outdoors again without adequate sun protection. From that moment on, you’ll have to use the strongest sunscreen available even if you only intend being out in your garden for an hour or so.
What so many people don’t realize, is the fact that these days there are indeed skin care products capable of reducing lines and wrinkles. Admittedly, in the past things were different, but technology has moved forward in leaps and bounds. Scientists have made some astonishing discoveries as far as anti aging products are concerned. For example, we now know that nut grass root extract can effectively reduce age spots and sun spots, and that it can lighten skin just as well as any chemical can. We also know that grape seed oil is so effective at repairing skin cells; it can even be used to reduce and eliminate stretch marks.
If you’ve suffered from severe acne all your life, and your face resembles the surface of the moon, then sure, go and discuss a chemical peel with your doctor. There are times when this sort of treatment in justified, but if your only concern is lines and wrinkles, or perhaps a few blemishes, you can treat them successfully without having to rely on any chemicals whatsoever.
